Welcome to the Township of Bonfield, a picturesque community located in the District of Nipissing, just a short 20 minute drive east from downtown North Bay.
The Township of Bonfield consists of a vast rural area along with the Hamlets of Bonfield and Rutherglen. Forestry and farming are the roots of our community, while today although some small farming operations remain, the primary economic activities are forestry, logging, tourism and a growing number of cottage industries.
In 1986 the Township of Bonfield celebrated its 100th Anniversary and was inducted into the Canadian Railway Hall of Fame on October the 8th, 2002 as the Historic location where the first spike was driven in the CPR Trans-Continental Railway, Sir John A. Macdonald’s National Dream.
